The steps
- 1
Click the Start button, type Default apps, and press Enter. The Settings window opens to the Default Apps page listing all installed software.
What does a default browser do?
When you click a web link in an email, chat app, or document, Windows automatically opens it inside whichever browser is set as your default.
- 2
Scroll or search in the list for the browser you want to use (such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Brave) and click its name. A page opens showing all file types and links that the browser can handle.

- 3
Click the Set default button near the top of the window. A checkmark appears next to the button, confirming your chosen browser is now the default for opening web pages.
It looks different on my screen
In Windows 10, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps, and click directly on the browser listed under Web browser.
