The steps

What causes most popup alerts on Windows?
Many notifications come from web browsers (like Chrome or Edge) because websites ask for permission to send updates, or from background apps you rarely use.
- 3
Turn the main toggle for Notifications to Off to silence all apps, or scroll down and switch off only the specific noisy apps. The selected app toggles turn gray and will no longer show banners or play sounds.
- 4
To temporarily block interruptions while working or watching videos, turn on Do not disturb at the top. A small bell icon with a slash appears next to your clock in the taskbar indicating quiet mode.

It looks different on my screen
On Windows 10, this feature is named Focus Assist instead of Do Not Disturb, and can be adjusted directly by opening Quick Actions (WinA).
