Is WhatsApp on computer safe?
Yes. It links directly and securely to the WhatsApp app on your smartphone. Your conversations remain end-to-end encrypted, and nobody can link to your account without scanning this code with your unlocked phone.
- 2
Open the WhatsApp app on your mobile phone. Your phone displays your chats list.
- 3
On your phone, tap Settings (on iPhone, in the bottom right corner) or the three vertical dots (on Android, in the top right corner), then tap Linked devices. A screen appears on your phone showing a button labelled Link a device.
- 4
Tap Link a device on your phone, then point your phone's camera at the square QR code displayed on your computer monitor. Your phone vibrates briefly, the QR code vanishes from your monitor, and all your WhatsApp chats immediately appear across your computer screen.

It looks different on my screen
If your phone asks for your fingerprint, Face ID, or lock screen passcode right after tapping Link a device, complete that prompt first. This is a built-in security check by your phone to ensure you are the actual device owner.
