The steps

  1. 1

Open the web browser where you were just working (such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox). The browser window is active in front of you.

  2. 2

Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together, then press the letter T. The tab you just closed immediately pops back open in the exact position it was in before, with your page loaded.

A closed browser tab instantly restored across the top tab bar.

Screenshot on the way. The steps above are complete without it.

How does Ctrl + Shift + T work?

Web browsers keep a recent memory list of closed pages. Just as CtrlT opens a new empty tab, adding Shift tells the browser to undo your last tab closure.

  3. 3

If you closed multiple tabs in a row by mistake, press CtrlShiftT repeatedly. Each tap reopens the next previously closed tab in reverse chronological order.

Restoring multiple browser tabs in sequence using Ctrl + Shift + T.

  4. It looks different on my screen

You can also right-click any blank grey space on the top tab strip and click Reopen closed tab using your mouse.
